More About Anne Lee
Hello and welcome!
My name is Anne Lee, and I’d love to share a little about myself and the path that has led me to the work I’m so passionate about today.
I was born and raised in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, and I’ve been fortunate enough to call this beautiful area home all my life. I’m married with two adult children, and I’m blessed with a gorgeous grandson who brings so much joy to my life. Growing up, I was educated in Randwick, and over the years, I’ve spent much of my career working in administration roles across the eastern suburbs.
However, in 2016, I decided to make a bold change in my life. I felt a deep desire to reinvent myself and take on a new challenge that would bring more purpose and fulfillment. I enrolled in a course and trained to become a registered marriage celebrant. At first, I focused on weddings – a joyful and celebratory part of life. But as I continued my journey, I discovered that the role of a celebrant also extended to funerals. Initially, I wasn’t sure if I could handle it. I thought the emotional weight of funerals might be too much for me. I worried I might get too attached to the families and the grief they were experiencing.
But, as it often does in life, things turned out differently than I had expected. I found that working with families at such a vulnerable time actually felt incredibly rewarding. I completed additional training to further deepen my understanding of grief and loss, and before long, I had become a sought-after funeral celebrant – something I hadn’t anticipated but now see as one of the most meaningful aspects of my career.
Yet, there was still more I wanted to do. I realized that while being a celebrant allowed me to help families mark the end of a loved one’s life, I longed to be more directly involved in the process of planning and guiding families through the entire funeral experience. I wanted to help create more personalized and meaningful services. So, I took the next step in my journey and trained with Picaluna Funerals to become a funeral director.
Now, since 2018, I’ve had the honor and privilege of working as both a funeral director and celebrant. I can honestly say I absolutely love what I do. Every day, I get to work directly with families, providing support, guidance, and care at what is often the worst time in their lives. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to bring some light to people during their darkest moments and help them honor the lives of their loved ones in a way that feels truly meaningful.
In a role like this, no two days are ever the same, but the heart of my work remains constant: it’s about compassion, understanding, and providing a sense of peace during one of life’s most difficult transitions. It’s not always easy, but it’s incredibly gratifying. I’m continually humbled by the strength and resilience of the families I work with, and it’s a true privilege to guide them through such a deeply emotional time.
I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to do this work, and I feel honored to be trusted by families to help them navigate one of life’s most challenging experiences. If you’re here, reading this, I hope my story has given you a little insight into who I am and what drives me. If you ever need support or guidance during a difficult time, I’m here to help in whatever way I can.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me a little better.
Warmly,
Anne Lee
